Facts and Lore: The formula for baryte is BaSO4. This stone received its name in 1800. Its name is derived from the Greek word for heavy. It can come in many colors from colorless, yellow, blue, and greenish- and it can be tinted almost any color also. The formation sold as "Desert Rose" is either Baryte or Selenite. Blue Barite was historically used by women when nursing men after battle by placing a piece on the third of the man so that he would enter a state of semi-transcendence allowing him to wait until treatment could arrive. For commercial use, it is most often utilized for its weight. The first application is to make drilling oils heavier.

Sizing details
All my pocket rockets are sorted by their measurements. The longest side is the measurement that they are sorted by. They could be very thin in both thickness and width, but make the measurement in length only. All pictures are from current lot so it will hopefully give you an idea of the dimensional comparisons for your piece.
I try to add approximate measurements to all items. If there is something I have forgotten or is unclear, please contact me for clarification!
All rocks are a bit smaller than you think they are going to be! Even I order stones online and look at them as I get them from the box and have the same thought. I always get out a ruler when I am reading the measurements on a stone to help me know what to expect.
Wholesale availability
